MAWSA is your Student’s Association. We are here to help you solve both academic and non-academic issues.
In accordance with the 1993 Privacy Act, at no time will your case be discussed outside of the MAWSA advocacy team without your approval.
We encourage students to seek resolution by first speaking with the people who are directly involved. For instance, if you have a problem with a grade we encourage you to discuss any issues you may have with your lecturer before seeking advocacy. This can aid in preventing hostility if the case then progresses to advocacy. Not all cases allow for this, but where appropriate, open communication can be helpful to resolve issues. If you feel uncomfortable or if it is not appropriate to speak to those involved, or you simply just want support in doing so – this is where the Student Advocate can help.
Advocacy can be pointing you in the right direction, getting you in touch with the right people to help solve your issue, and speaking on your behalf in resolution meetings with the people involved. However if an advocate feels threatened at all they reserve the right to withdraw from the case.
The Student Advocate is here to facilitate the resolution of your issue with dedication and professionalism. They are here to help.
