Massey University’s Wellington campus is partly closed today due to a power outage that is not expected to be restored till late this afternoon.
The power cut affects staff and students in Blocks five, six, and seven as well as the Library, the Centre for Teaching and Learning, the Student Health Centre, Tussock Café, Professional and Continued Education (PaCE), MAWSA and prefab buildings T 24-29 and T 33-40.
Campus registrar Deanna Riach advises that Blocks one, two, three, four, 10,11, 12 as well as the BPM gymnasium remain open as they are unaffected by the power outage.
Affected staff are asked to find temporary workspace in Block One (the old School of Music building now home to the College of Creative Arts) for today or if advised by their line manager to work from home. Staff working from home can access work emails via owa.massey.ac.nz.
Ms Riach says due to it being mid-semester break there are currently few students on campus and are advised not to come onto campus today unless they can work in one of the unaffected buildings.
The decision to order the partial closure was deemed necessary due to the safety and security risk posed by the power outage, she says.
